As you know, the NYCDOE has announced an extensive summer enrichment program titled “Summer Rising.” JHS 157 will host the program for our students. Students that are required (mandated) to attend summer school will be notified the week of June 21.
However, this year, we are also able to offer our summer program to all students, including ESL support and ELA/Math/Sci/SS enrichment classes. “Summer Rising” for both mandated and enrichment students will begin on Tuesday, July 6th and continue through Thursday, August 12th. Students will receive instruction in ELA (using science and social studies content) and Math from 8:30AM-12:30PM, Monday-Thursday (no class on Fridays).
“Grab and Go” breakfast (8:25AM) and lunch (12:30PM) will be provided for students each day. Yellow bus will also be provided for all eligible students (those students that currently ride or can ride the yellow bus but are on full remote learning).
Students may also attend our Queens Community House (QCH) after school program from 12:45PM-4PM each day after summer enrichment.
All summer learning, including QCH, will be in-person. All NYCDOE/NYCDOH health and safety protocol will be followed.
If you would like your child to attend our summer enrichment program and the QCH after school program, please complete the registration form below.
Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Vincent Suraci
Principal JHS 157
