2023 St. Jude Math-A-Thon

The St. Jude Math-A-Thon is a school-based fundraiser that benefits St. Jude children’s Research
Hospital. St. Jude treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
Parents of these children cannot afford to pay for treatments. With the donations raised from St.
Jude Math-A-Thon, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or
food.

In previous years JHS 157 was identified as one of the top 100 schools that have raised money
for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. St. Jude has personally thanked our school for our
commitment to the Math-A-Thon fundraiser to help save kids regardless of their financial
situation. JHS 157 raises thousands of dollars each year to help the children of St. Jude.

Ms. Schiano will kick off our fundraiser next week by speaking about the St. Jude Math-A-Thon
during each grade’s assembly period. All students will receive Math-A-Thon booklets in their
math class (grades 6-9), as well as sponsor forms, which students will use to collect donations
from family and friends. A prize order form will be shared with the students when it is made
available to our school. Math teachers will discuss the Math-A-Thon in depth in their classes
next week.

The official fundraiser start date is Thursday, January 12, 2023, and the last day of the fundraiser
will be Tuesday, February 28, 2023. The top student who raises the most money in each grade
will be recognized, and a pizza party will be awarded to the homeroom class on each grade that
raises the most money for St. Jude.
