Q & A Image

Where did you go to school?

I earned my B.A. from Western Washington University. In 2003, I completed my M.A. in teaching at Simmons College (now Simmons University). I am currently working on a master’s degree in quantitative methods for social science research at the CUNY Graduate Center.

How long have you been at Halsey?

I have been a substitute teacher at Halsey since February 2019. I have been working in various educational settings since 1998.

What would you be doing if you were not a teacher?

If I were not a teacher, I would be a social scientist studying people and society. This is what I had planned to do when I entered college after high school. This is what I hope to be doing full-time soon.

Why did you get into education?

I became a teacher because I wanted to be the teacher I needed when I was younger. And I wanted to have a positive influence on my community.

What is your favorite thing about being a teacher?

My favorite part of teaching is the students. I love the mix of personalities, interests, and perspectives that each student brings to the room.

Any hobbies or interests that we do not know you would like to share?

I enjoy spending time with my teenage daughters. I do not have much time for other hobbies right now.
