Tonyes

Where did you go to school?

St. Francis College

How long have you been at Halsey?

This is my first year teaching at Halsey!

What would you be doing if you were not a teacher?

Ever since I was in high school I’ve been passionate about perusing a career in education. If I wasn’t a math teacher, I would most likely be a counselor, so that I can help others work through difficult situations in life.

Why did you get into education?

Personally, I love learning and I love problem solving! Working in the education field is constantly evolving so teachers have to work extra hard to keep up and create safe/ warm/ engaging learning environments. Never a dull moment and not a single day is the same.

What is your favorite thing about being a teacher?

Previous years I’ve always hung a sign in my class –

“My favorite part about my classroom is who I share it with” and it’s so true! The relationships formed with my students and colleagues is my favorite part of being a teacher. Everyone is so different and we all have something to learn from one another.

Any hobbies or interests that we do not know you would like to share?

The coolest thing about me that you probably don’t know is that throughout my life I’ve always loved bowling. I bowled on the division 1 NCAA women’s bowling team for St. Francis College and I’ve even bowled a perfect score of a 300, which is 12 consecutive strikes!
