Hale

Where did you go to school?
I went to SUNY Geneseo which is very close to where I grew up! I grew up in a small farm town in upstate NY and didn’t move down to the city until I started working at Halsey! The town I grew up in has more cows than people!

How long have you been at Halsey?
This is my fourth year at Halsey!

What would you be doing if you were not a teacher?
I have always wanted to be a teacher. The only thing I was unsure about was what grade level I wanted to teach. Throughout high school and college I worked in a preschool and always thought I would end up as a kindergarten teacher!

Why did you get into education?
Both of my grandparents were educators and told me how rewarding the profession was. I got into education because I want to make a difference in students’ lives. Being a teacher is so much more than teaching content. I want to teach my students that with hard work they can achieve anything they put their mind to!

What is your favorite thing about being a teacher?
My favorite thing about being a teacher is getting to know my students on a more personal level! I have the most incredible students and I love learning more about them and convincing them that math is their favorite subject 🙂

Any hobbies or interests that we do not know you would like to share?
When I am not working I love to do anything outdoors! I played tennis in college and I love to play now whenever I get the chance. I also love to cook and try new recipes!
