Marking Period 4
Students will receive numeric grades for MP4 report card scores. Most classes calculate student averages according to the following formula:
- 50% Assessments and Projects
- 40% Student Work
- 10% Participation
Small Group ELA and Math, SETSS, ESL Push-In and Pull-Out, and homeroom classes are graded on a P / NX scale:
- P (Pass)
- NX (Course in Progress)
Please note that the NX grade code is not only used to represent numerical averages below 65; it is also used for the following reasons:
- Insufficient work to calculate an average, regardless of reason
- No access to sufficient and consistent remote learning technology for all or part of the remote learning period (includes devices, WiFi or need to share limited technology with other family members)
- Challenges in navigating the technology recommended to support student learning
- Insufficient work available to determine a student’s grade despite multiple attempts to contact the student and family
High student achievement for MP4 will be recognized with Gold and Silver Honor Roll. Students with an overall average of 92.01 or higher will achieve Gold Honor Roll. Students with an overall average between 85 and 92 will achieve Silver Honor Roll. The following criteria is also considered:
- In order to qualify for either Honor Roll, a student may not have a grade lower than 80 in any subject area
- In order to qualify for either Honor Roll, a student may not have a conduct grade of N or U in any subject area
Marking Period 5
The year-end grade is called “MP5” on student report cards. For most students, these grades will be the numeric average of the MP2-MP4 grades for a given course (grade codes were used for all MP1 grades this year). For a handful of students, the MP5 grade may shift slightly from the exact numeric average in order to reflect individual student circumstances tied to Covid.

Gold and Silver Honor Roll is only used for individual marking periods, not for MP5.
