FIRST DAY PROCEDURES 

Schools are scheduled to open on Thursday, September 5, 2019 for students. We are planning to have a full day of school. Students are to arrive at school by 8 am, bringing with them the school supplies that are outlined on our school’s website. At 8 am parents should drop children off outside of the building at the appropriate grade entrance, and children should report to the following rooms:

Grade 6: Main Entrance to Auditorium with Mr. Dechongkit, Ms. Shriki, Ms. Gonzalez
Grade 7: Girls Gym (from 63rd avenue entrance) with Ms. Lisa, Ms. Schiano, Ms. Sussman, Mr. Suh
Grade 8/9: Cafeteria (from 64th avenue entrance) with Ms. Napolitano, Mr. Plummer, Mr. Angelastro
Classes: 6/794, 8/994: Main Entrance to Library with Mr. Trainor

 

Information that will be discussed with students during their homeroom with their homeroom teacher include:

A. Attendance taking
B. Lateness, absences and absence notes
C. Morning exercise (pledge / announcements)
D. Distribution of “School Rules” letter and sign-off sheets/ blue cards / metro cards
E. Distribution of student schedules
F. Review 1st day procedures
a. Lunch / talent class
b. Expectation for behavior during hallway passing
G. Students are informed of the name and location of their Assistant Principal, Guidance Counselor and Dean.

On the first day of school, we will follow a SPECIAL BELL SCHEDULE FOR Thursday, September 5 ONLY. Students will have the opportunity to visit every class they would regularly have on day 1. The only difference is that each class time will be shortened by about ten minutes. School hours are Monday through Friday from 8 am to 2:20 pm.

8:10 – 9:00 Students in Homeroom
9:00 – 9:30 Period 1
9:30 – 10:00 Period 2
10:00 – 10:30 Period 3
10:30 – 11:15 Period 4
11:15 – 12:00 Period 5
12:00 – 12:45 Period 6
12:45 – 1:30 Period 7
1:30 – 2:00 Period 8
2:00 – 2:20 P.M. Homeroom Period
2:20 Dismissal for all Grades 7, 8 & 9
2:20 Grade 6 – Teacher’s will escort all 6th Grade classes to the School Yard

     Parents picking up Grade 6 students on the first day can meet their children at the school yard entrance on Yellowstone Blvd. All other days students will be dismissed from the exit closes to their homeroom. Grade 6 Yellow Bus students (General Education students only) will meet in the lobby promptly at 2:20.
