COVID Testing At Halsey

Covid Testing Memo From Principal Suraci – 11/20/2020

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope this email finds you well. As I have previously communicated, as part of New York City’s ongoing effort to stop the spread of COVID-19, and to ensure the health and safety of our community, random COVID-19 testing of

staff and students will be conducted at our school once a week from now until the time we are no longer in the “Yellow Zone.” The testing provider was at our school today.

Only students with signed and submitted consent forms are eligible to be tested (schools.nyc.gov/covid testing). If you have not done so already, please complete the consent form and return it with your child when your child is scheduled to be in the building.

Students that were randomly selected for testing received a letter to take home informing you of their participation. From the random selection, only students comfortable with participating were tested.

Most test results will be available within 48 to 72 hours. If your child tests negative for COVID-19, the testing provider will notify you via email. If your child tests positive for COVID-19, the testing provider will notify you by telephone call, and NYC Test & Trace Corps will call to provide your family with resources and support.

If you are concerned that we may not have an updated email or contact phone number for you, please contact Mr. Zevon at mzevon@schools.nyc.gov to update your email and phone number.

We deeply appreciate your partnership and your commitment to keeping our school community safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Vincent Suraci
