Congratulations to three students here at Halsey who have made Halsey history! Halsey sent three students to perform at the NYSSMA Solo and Ensemble festival in Corona last week. 3rd Place (complexity) – Tejas Modi, Matan Luzon and Emile Romero – created an app for users to create music with various different sounds, Quicksound

4th Place (Presentation) -Lucas Tsang and Shaurya – created an app to identify animals by taking a picture – using image recognition software, Animal discovery

Special thanks to Ms. S. Shikowitz and Ms. J. Pignataro for their help.

Garden Beautification Project Progress Update

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Mr. Weiss has been working hard on the Garden Beautification Project that is being funded by our PTA. Along with some Halsey students, Mr. Weiss has built 5 raised flower beds for the front of the school and has begun building the greenhouse located in our garden on the side of the building. Last weekend the students met up with Mr. Weiss and Ms. Butera who came to help. When students began to arrive they got right to work on building the greenhouse, removing a pair of tree stumps and pruning back some of our more “unruly” plants.

We will be out there this Sunday at 10:00 am weather permitting. Come on out!

If you would like to get involved on the Green Team please contact Mr. Weiss at

We are asking for donations to help purchase the flowers, plants and trees we are going to be planting. You can use this link to donate:
