Parent Coordinator Weekly Update

Happy Friday Folks! Did everyone enjoy the Super Bowl? How about the commercials?  That Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr. commercial was the best one in my opinion. You would not know it by looking at them but the Manning’s have a great sense of humor. If you havent seen the commercial you can check it out here: The Time of My Life

On Wednesday, February 7th all our students had the pleasure of watching a very special presentation by Prismatic Magic. Prismatic Magic is a school assembly program provider and high-tech laser show company in one. Their mission is to dazzle students of all ages, and to inspire them to seize the educational and professional opportunities that science and technology provide. The students saw a laser light show honoring Black History Month.

Black History Month

Celebrate the profound contributions of African-Americans in an exciting new way. Part history lesson and part uplifting musical revival, the Black History Laser Tribute is an unforgettable experience for students of all ages.

Historical events, such as the Tuskegee Airmen and Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech are brought to life using vivid laser animations. Students participate throughout by singing to musical classics from Louis Armstrong, Cab Calloway, Chuck Berry, Ray Charles, and Aretha Franklin; artists who laid the foundation for today’s popular music.

Survey administration opens on February 12, 2018 and runs through March 23, 2018.

It is imperative that all parents complete the school survey once it is available. The results help us make the necessary changes the school and students need for the future.

Did you know that the PTA has opened up an online store? YEP! You can purchase Spirit Wear at this link: http://halsey157.bigcartel.com/  Supplies are limited as they are selling the rest of their stock before purchasing new items.

The School Leadership Team (SLT) meeting takes place the following day on Wednesday, February 14th at 7:15 am.

PTA are still collecting donations for their annual appeal. The first half of the year was wonderful and we thank everyone for their support BUT there is still a need. After-school activities continue, transportation is needed for our athletic teams, musical instruments get damaged and need fixing, air-conditioners break down, our school garden needs renovations, etc… That’s where you guys come in. Please consider donating to the Halsey JHS 157 PTA as they are doing all they can to address all those things above and more.

Click here for the Annual Appeal Letter and help support your school!

You can send in your donation with your children and bring it to the Parent Coordinator’s office.
