Introducing Our New Parent Coordinator

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce to our families, faculty and staff our new parent coordinator, Michael Zevon. Welcome to the Halsey family!

Michael Zevon is an innovative, thoughtful, and dedicated member of the Queens community. Michael has spent the past 22 years dedicating his career to working with the families and young people of Forest Hills and Rego Park at the Queens Community House.

He brings a unique perspective to the Halsey family as both a parent of a middle school age child and a professional working in the field of family and youth development.

His roots in the community give him a legitimacy as someone young people and their families can trust, and affords him a unique opportunity to meet the needs of our students and their families as we continue to develop a culture of family engagement within our school.

Michael was named NY1’s New Yorker of the Week and his work has been featured in numerous media outlets throughout the city. He was awarded the 2016 PASEsetter Award by the Partnership for After-School Education. The PASEsetter Awards honor after-school educators whose commitment, energy, and creativity have improved the lives of the youth of New York City.

If you have any questions or concerns feel free to reach out to Michael at MZevon@schools.nyc.gov or 718-830-4910

Sincerely,

Vincent Suraci
